Collingwood’s Virginia Moloney became only the ninth Australian female (ever, ever, ever!!) to break the two and a half hourĀ markĀ in the 2017 Gold Coast Marathon run on July 2nd.

The fourth female home (first Australian!), Virginia finished in 28th place overall (men and women) in a new Club Record of 2 hours 29 minutes 12 seconds – knocking five minutes of her PB and previous record.

This performance certainly throws Virginia right into the mix for next year’s Commonwealth Games.

Clubmembers should also rejoice at the terrific performance of Hugh McCarthy who finished one place in front of Virginia with a huge PB of 2 hours 29 minutes 06 seconds.
