Erin CUPPER
Erin was studying at Latrobe University when the Club first heard of her and her exploits as a very promising (horizontal) jumper in northwest Victoria.
We didn’t realise until a little later that Erin had indeed won the National Junior Triple Jump title the previous year!
Not long after contact was made, Erin joined up and soon showed us that her reputation was well founded.
An athlete with a lot of potential, Erin set Club records in both the long and triple jump in her early competitions for the Collingwood Club.
However, Erin found it hard to combine the time required to develop her talents with her studies and drifted out of the sport, perhaps finding that she didn’t quite have the passion once possessed in her junior days.
There is no doubt that coach Grant Sargent regarded Erin as ‘one who got away!
