In our sport of athletics we don’t often get to make a gracious farewell!
Usually we find we have lost a club mate when they just don’t turn up for the beginning of the next season.
However Malcolm Campbell has announced that his body is not quite up to another season of hitting the road and is calling it quits after a terrific career with Collingwood Harriers.
Malcolm was introduced to the Club by Stuart Kollmorgen in 2004 and has been a regular competitor in both winter and summer seasons ever since. While it is fair to say that there have been a few injuries in the last couple of years, Malcolm has continued to carry the black and white colours with great distinction at every opportunity. It is also fair to say that there were definitely times when he shouldn’t have run, but did so to support the Club.
The Club could certainly benefit from more people with the drive and dedication of Malcolm and he will be missed not only for his athletic ability but also his happy disposition and genuine support of his fellow running mates.
Best wishes for the future Malcolm and thank you!
